Aloha All NBYC Members: Wednesday, July 20th our NBYC celebrates Founders' Day
with a Luau Party!! The Club's records show that anyone who was a member of the
club on July 20, 1940 was considered a "Charter Member" of the
club. Their names are on a plaque at the Club. And what did the
founding members have in mind for the club? Sailing, racing, friends,
food and drink! So, this July 20th we will honor
their vision and celebrate the 65th anniversary of these
founding members with a Founders' Day Luau! (We’re not sure
they were thinking Hawaiian...but it’s hot, it’s summer, it’s
the beach – sounds Hawaiian to us!) The festivities begin with Wednesday Night Racing at the usual
6:00 PM. Skippers are encouraged to decorate their boats and to
invite guests aboard. There will be prizes for the boat that makes best
use of the theme! After racing, a Hawaiian-theme dinner in the galley will be
served. BYOB and mixes, the club will supply ice and blenders so you can
make your favorite tropical delight. And we even have live music
compliments of the Bosco Brothers Band! Wear your best Hawaiin attire to
really help set the mood and be prepared to limbo! This event is for the whole club – not just Wednesday Night
Racers. Come on down and enjoy a great night at the beach! This event will be held RAIN OR SHINE. |
