NBYC - Race Committee Seminar, Saturday, April 22

NBYC will be hosting a Race Management Seminar on Saturday, April 22^nd.

This seminar is sponsored by the US SAILING Race Management Committee and the Eastern Connecticut Sailing Association. It is designed for people who have some race committee experience and newcomers are also welcome. It will be held at the Niantic Bay Yacht Club, will begin at 8:00 am and end at 6:00 pm.

The topics covered include: RC objectives, RC responsibilities, sailing instructions, RC jobs, RC equipment, setting the course, starting system, starting penalties, before the start, during the race, finishing, scoring and advertising & eligibility. The changes in the Racing Rules of Sailing 2005-2008 that affect race management will be discussed.

This is a worthwhile seminar to attend whether you want to participate in race committee work or are a racer. This is not a “NBYC event” but is simply being held at NBYC. If you wish to attend you must register with ECSA by going to www.ecsa.net and following the prompts.
