NBYC - sad news re: Maureen Landry



Long time member of NBYC, Maureen Landry, passed away earlier this week.  Her obituary from The New London Day is printed below.

 

 

 

 

Middlebury - Maureen Joyce Healy-Landry, 74, of Middlebury and Crescent Beach, Niantic, died Monday, June 5, 2006, at her home in Middlebury. The family is very grateful to Hospice for her care and peaceful passage.

Maureen was born Feb. 28, 1932, in Hartford, daughter of the late James T. And Geraldyn (Walsh) Healy and granddaughter of the late James T. Farrell.

After graduating from the College of New Rochelle, she earned her master's degree in education from the University of Hartford.

Her favorite place was Crescent Beach, where she summered and sailed a lightning with her brothers, Jim and Bill Healy. In the mid 1950s, she won the Regional Adams Cup Elimination.

Maureen lovingly devoted her life to the care of her family, which included being "Aunt Maureen" to her nieces and nephews. One of the highlights of her life was touring Ireland, her family's ancestral homeland, with her daughter, Jody.

She leaves two sons, Dr. Arthur B. Landry III of Middlebury, James J. Landry of New Jersey; two daughters, Jody Landry-Ziskind of St. Louis, Mo., and Maura Landry-Marques of Avon; two brothers, James T. Healy of Toronto and Dr. J. William Healy of Niantic; a sister, Sharon Healy of Middlebury; and seven grandchildren, Katie and Becky Ziskind, Artie and Alden Landry, and Tucker, Max and Chelsea Landry; nieces, Nancy Jane Harrington, Cathy Healy Guanci; and nephews, Bill and Tim Healy, and Mark Healy.

Relatives and friend are invited to the celebration of a Memorial Mass at 1: 30 p.m. on Saturday at St. Francis Chapel, Crescent Ave., Crescent Beach, Niantic. Private burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Portland.

In lieu of flowers, tax deductible contributions may be made in Maureen's honor to her sister's school, The Farmington Academy Montessori, 11 Talcott Notch Road, Farmington CT 06032.
