Next week the Optis are coming (just in case you haven’t
heard). While the Opti event should finish up at a reasonable time on Wednesday,
August 9th, it is possible that it could run late depending on
weather, etc. etc – all the vagaries that plague sailboat racing.
And after the racing is over there are results to be announced, equipment to be
put away, a park to clean up, etc. - all of which conflicts with Wednesday
Night Racing. The committee boat will likely not be ready and reorganized
for PHRF racing, many of the racers are volunteering to help (thank you!) and
will still be tied up with the Optis, etc. So for all those reasons we are moving Wednesday to Friday
next week. Yep – just go to your calendar, look up Friday, August
11th, cross out the word “Friday” and write in “Wednesday”.
Then show up to race just like it was Wednesday. Same time, same dinner,
etc. And you can party a little more than usual as you don’t have
to get up to go to work the next morning!! Also, take note that on Wednesday, August 23rd,
there will be no dinner at NBYC associated with racing. We will race but
the Atlantics are having a meeting and dinner associated with the Atlantic
National Regatta that will tie up our clubhouse. After racing, take your
crew out to one of the fine restaurants in downtown Niantic for a change -
they’ve worked hard and deserve it! |
