NBYC Early Bird "Fiesta" Regatta - advance notice



The Early Bird Notice follows.  Save June 3rd for a great sailing event!

 

John Bourget is in charge and is adding a Mexican flair to the event this year.  John will need HELP from members for race committee, food set up, serving and clean up, etc.  If you can help out please give John a call at 860-675-6475  or email to witan@aol.com.

NOTICE: Trophies for best Yacht Club Sailing Team and

                   best Club Beach Volleyball Team!

 

 

NOTICE OF RACE

First Warning:

1100 hours on Sunday.

Starting Area:

Somewhere in Niantic Bay depending on wind and current conditions.

Course(s):

More than one race may be held. Course(s) will be selected immediately prior to each race and signaled in accordance with the sailing instructions.  Scoring will be based on total corrected time for all races.

AWARDS

Fiesta Cup

The Early Bird Fiesta Cup, a new perpetual trophy will be awarded to the yacht club team with the best collective results (best four boats).

 

Early Bird

As usual, Early Bird Fiesta Regatta trophies will be awarded to the top three finishers in each class of 5 or more yachts.

 

Class B Spinnaker

 

The Arthur Meyers Trophy is awarded to the winning boat in Spinnaker Class B.

SHORE PARTY !

 “Fiesta”

Enjoy our fiesta featuring south of the border style food, drinks and music.  Nuestro casa es su casa es!

 

Volleyball

Put together as many four-person co-ed beach volleyball teams as you wish to represent your club in the “Fiesta Ball” Tournament.

 

INSTRUCTIONS

Rules:

This Early Bird Regatta will be governed by the 2005-2008 Racing Rules of Sailing, the Prescriptions of US Sailing, this Notice and the Sailing Instructions.  The Regatta is designated Category A.  Yachts (except Ensigns) must meet ESCA Offshore eligibility requirements including self-bailing cockpit, fixed berths, galley, and ability to be self-supporting for a weekend cruise. 

 

Classes & Handicaps:

Participants will be assigned to classes at the discretion of the Race Committee using PHRF-ECSA ratings.

There will be Spinnaker, Non-Spinnaker and Ensign classes.

 

Instructions

Sailing Instructions and Scratch Sheet will be available at the NBYC clubhouse after 1800 hours Saturday. Also, the Race Committee boat will have them in the starting area.  The RC boat will be bearing a blue ‘RC’ flag and fly an orange line flag from its mast.

The RC boat and the Club monitor Channel 72.

 

REGISTRATION

Registration

Use the ECSA Offshore Entry Form in the back of the ECSA yearbook (or online at www.ecsa.net).

 

Ratings

A 2007 PHRF-ECSA measurement certificate must be included or available online at ECSA.

 

Entry Fee

$50 per yacht includes admission for entire crew to the post-race party (best deal on the circuit!)

Please advise us of the number of your crew so we can plan accordingly.

 

Deadline

Mail registration deadline is 1700 hours Thursday, May 31st.  Email registration is accepted until 1700 hours Friday, June 1st with the signed entry, PHRF-ECSA measurement certificate and payment to the NBYC Clubhouse by 0930 hours on race day, or the boat may not race.

FREE DOCKAGE !

Two weeks

no charge!

No charge to race participants for NBYC moorings and dockage, beginning one week prior to until one week after the race.  Perfect layover in-transit to or from Off Soundings! Our very limited space goes fast on a first-come basis so call the Club soon to reserve!
