The Race Committee is always looking for help, particularly
on weekends. RC duty has been assigned to one individual for each weekend
day and it is that person’s job to recruit enough help to be able to run
the races. Rather than recruiting they would love to have someone call
and say they are volunteering to help! Weekend RC duty is pretty straight
forward. No timing is involved (it’s all one design races so there
are no handicap calculations), and you just push a button on the starting horn and
it runs itself after that. The racers themselves have come to appreciate
the volunteer RC system and are politely helpful in working with inexperienced
people to set starting lines and good courses. You’re out on the
water watching sailing. And the new committee boat affords protection
from the weather rain or shine. This coming weekend Brian Carey is in charge on Saturday, Ken
Shluger on Sunday. The rest of the weekend schedule is posted on the club
bulletin board. If you can help, give them a call. You’ll be
glad you did! |
