Jared was born Jan. 24, 1961, the son of Dorothy Thurber Silva
of Niantic and the late Robert M. Silva. He was the owner and operator of Jared's Packy in During his youth, Jared was an avid member of the Boy Scouts and
eventually reached Eagle Scout status, scouting's highest honor. He graduated
from Sports were a passion of Jared's throughout his life, as he was
a loyal fan of the Oakland Raiders and the New York Yankees. He was also a
member of the Niantic Bay Yacht Club, where he enjoyed sailing and swimming.
Jared loved all animals, especially his two Chow Chow dogs Tai-Ling and
Maxine. Jared was a devoted son, a loving brother, and a doting uncle to
his niece and nephews. He was very gregarious and loved interacting with his
customers of all ages and backgrounds, who he considered like family. He will be remembered by all who knew him as a genuine, caring,
and generous man whose wonderful sense of humor and friendly, non-judgmental
