Niantic - Jared Robert Silva, 46,
of Niantic, died on October 12, 2007.
Jared was born Jan. 24, 1961, the son of Dorothy Thurber Silva
of Niantic and the late Robert M. Silva.
He was the owner and operator of Jared's Packy in New London.
During his youth, Jared was an avid member of the Boy Scouts and
eventually reached Eagle Scout status, scouting's highest honor. He graduated
from East Lyme High School
in 1980 where he was a member of the varsity football team.
Sports were a passion of Jared's throughout his life, as he was
a loyal fan of the Oakland Raiders and the New York Yankees. He was also a
member of the Niantic Bay Yacht Club, where he enjoyed sailing and swimming.
Jared loved all animals, especially his two Chow Chow dogs Tai-Ling and
Maxine.
Jared was a devoted son, a loving brother, and a doting uncle to
his niece and nephews. He was very gregarious and loved interacting with his
customers of all ages and backgrounds, who he considered like family.
He will be remembered by all who knew him as a genuine, caring,
and generous man whose wonderful sense of humor and friendly, non-judgmental
nature made him a fixture in the New
London and Niantic communities that he loved so
dearly.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by a sister, Nancy and
her husband, John Donovan, of Hingham,
Mass.; a niece, Kaitlin
Donovan, and two nephews, Patrick and Sean Donovan.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 20th, at 11
a.m. at St. John's
Episcopal Church, Main Street,
Niantic. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at
the Neilan Funeral Home, 12
Ocean Ave., New London.

choice.
